There is not harm in trying it. If they are very minor it will do the trick. I just assumed they were fairly significant by his original post but rubbing compound will work on minor things. Just be sure to wax the area after.

thanks for the tips- i will give the rubbing compound a try and then move to the sanding.

and on two a second question---Any waxes that are better or worse?

I was only kidding about the pretzel rolls.

Most waxes are the same. They won't address the issue as they typically aren't abrasive enough.

Yes definitely, but it becomes a matter of budget. I use Adam's Americana, but at something like 70 bucks a container it's far from cheap. However it's amazing. You can step down a bit to something like Wolfgang or Optimum which is much cheaper and does a pretty good job. The old over the counter staple so to speak is Mequires Gold Class. If I had to buy my wax at a store that's what I'd go with. It's cheap too.
