The diversity of Toronto is a very new thing. When I was in Canada in the 80s they only knew to hate Indians.

My 90-year-old friend was part of the Caribbean literary scene in Toronto in the mid-to-late 60's. It's grown quite a bit since then.

Montreal. It was like a huge french speaking hipster town, but I really did enjoy it and plan on going back sometime.

Philly is significantly more diverse than Boston. Hard to say if I'd expect a racist response to losing in the hands of Ward.
