There was talk around these parts of pulling Elliott after the first period. I said no, none of it was on him. Anybody think pulling him would have been the right thing to do?

Blues got so outplayed in the 1st but boy did the bounces go LA's way. Getting Pietrangelo back, catching a few breaks and playing more like the last 30 minutes and I give the Blues a fair shot at taking the series. Also, get the puck up on this slithering Gollum of a goalkeeper.

Can't blame Elliott there. LA was getting open looks and room to stride into their shots. Kopitar's shorty was gorgeous, Carter's top shelf was a lucky bounce. The Blues were listless, wasn't his fault. It also sent the message that they weren't giving up yet, and if they could have netted something on one of their 9 power plays, they would have been back in it.

I agree that pulling him wouldn't have been appropriate. The D let him down time after time. I guess he could have made some nifty saves on a couple of the goals, but none of them were very soft.

I think the PP thing is in their heads now. If they could just have gotten one to break the slump, I think it would have helped going into game 3.

But even with everything that went poorly, there was the puck Quick was barely able to keep from going in. There was another shot that deflected off his mask, destined for the top corner. They weren't far from making it a game, despite the positively awful first period.

This is exactly how I felt...the first period was pathetic but they came out in the 2nd & 3rd periods playing a completely different game.

Hopefully they realize they can't half ass it for even a period in the playoffs or the game could be over before it started. I have no doubt Hitch said something after that first period that lit a fire under their @sses.

Similar to the Polak Door, but more like Pandora's box.
