Wow. Wouldn't you want to try to navigate away from a school area like that if the plane was going down?

Didn't look like he had much of a choice, of course he may have thought it was the largest open area to try & bring the plane down.

comments say he forgot he had second fuel tank available. I did that once but in my F150.

I have a lot of aviators (as a hobby) in my family, and I think if you run out of gas you actually have a fair amount of control for some time. I'll have to ask my nephew about this, but it seems like maybe he shouldn't have gone to the school.
