Hahahaha.

His peripherals are suggesting absurdly bad luck. His LD% is 23.8%, but his BABIP is .220. And his HR/FB is 2.6%. Those things should even out, but what a [expletive] way to get started in LA.

these things do even out, but not if there is divine intervention. God trumps regression to mean.

I am thinking that it was true that God told him to take the money, Pujols heard that and got so excited and starting thanking God that he missed the part about God teaching him a decade long lesson in humility as he suffers for the Angels.

Being drafted in the 13th round must have been pretty humbling.

I guess I meant since he was an adult.

Well, he's 42 now, so he was 29 when he was drafted. I'd say that's an adult.

Does losing the MVP to Howard in 2006 count as being humbled?

that is a nice point Doc. It really must be hard to struggle like this when you not only have been good, but you were great at life. What that would be like is just unimaginable to me.

It would be like stephen hawking not being able to add
or sigh young not having a pithy image to post
or ....

So I go to CNN to look at the news, and a story headlined "Why big MLB star is slumping" catches my eye. I immediately thought of Pujols, and when I clicked on the link, yes it was Pujols:

Sports Illustrated: Tom Verducci - Slumping Pujols most stunning development in strange season

If CNN thinks it's news for non-baseball fans, you know Pujols is really struggling.

What are the odds this is a cover story?

I could not agree more. Mandatory happy flights next year seems very logical. And yes, I do think a squirrel could play second. The only thing I question is the tortoise in the outfield.

I think having an autistic child, albeit a stepchild, would help keep you grounded.

BTW, his home run made the WSJ.
