I''m in a very early preliminary stage of looking at getting season tickets for the Bulls, and one question I need answered is how the secondary market (Stubhub etc..) works and how hard it is to use. I definitely would not be going to every single game, and would want to re-sell up to maybe 1/2 of my tickets on the secondary market. In fact what I would almost like to do is to put 3/4 of the tickets online for sale, and if they don't sale just decide the morning of the game to pull those tickets and go to the game myself. Is this something that would be logistic nightmare, or is it pretty easy?

I listed some tickets on there once. Unfortunately they didn't sell, but I remember the process of setting up an account and listing them was pretty straightforward and easy.

It's really simple.

How do the tix get from buyers hands to the sellers? Who actually mails them to the buyer, stubhub or the seller?

A friend of mine did this as a money-making venture with some NBA team and definitely lost. He got a great deal on the season tickets and it seemed like a no-brainer, but it just didn't go like he expected. This is a smart kid who actually ran the ticket db for the Blues at the time, and it's a pretty funny story. I forget how it works exactly (I think they email you printable fedex labels or whatever), but that's not the problem. Someone has to buy them and if they do stubhub gets 15%.

You would. I know there is a way for them to print them off (somehow) too if you have the technology and savvy.

I wouldn't do this to make money, but I know I wouldn't go to 45 games/year. I would just want a way to just dump some of the tickets I don't use/can't give away. Basically I want to go to more games, avoid the huge secondary market markup, and have access to playoff tickets (again minus the huge secondary markup). The Bulls are one of those teams though that if you were able to get good seats for, it's hard to imagine not being able to make money. I did put my name on the list, and there are 6,000+ in front of me. I know a guy at work that got ST's this year, and they aren't good seats at all. If they were to call with upper level corner seats 5 rows from the top ... no, not going to do that.

Just for closure ... I talked to my buddy who has ST to the Bulls and he uses the Bulls version of stubhub, and that sounds like the way to go. Basically the way it works is you are issued actual tickets, but you can put your ticket on sale through the ticket exchange. Once the ticket sells your hard copy becomes void, and the buyer prints off an electronic copy from the ticket exchange service. The cool thing is that you can have that money directed either into your bank account, or into the Bulls account which would go toward playoff tickets/next year season tickets. What he did was put almost every ticket to the 36 games up for sale, and sold 18. If they didn't sell, he went to the game. He averaged $66 per ticket after commission. He said sell prices ranged from $35 (so below face) to $115 for a Heat game. Of course this was a shortened season, typically it's 45 games which is 41 home games and 4 exhibition.

If I could sell 20 games I'd consider it. I'd go 15 or so and then give 5 away to friends/family or whatever.

I'd probably buy a couple games from you. That would leave 18 to sell.
