yeah, don't you need to do a "channel search" to scan the channels in ...??

it doesn't have a manual. i bought it used (5 months old, $250)...
it has a channel scan button, and i went there and clicked the check boxes for every channel, but it didn't "scan". It still just shows ch 4 and 5. this has to be fixed by game time tonight.

What brand tv is it? And when you go into settings there no channel setting for "cable"?

I just found "cable channel search"...hopefully this solves it. 27% done searching, 7 channels found so far

I don't think cable companies typically deliver many channels in the clear. You most likely require a cable box if you aren't using an antenna.

analog. so far the channel search has 54 analog and 5 digital channels found at 78% finished searching.

She won't be getting any HD channels (which would require a cable box...or an HD antenna for the locals)
