Some guy in Atlanta is reporting Bourn will get the invite in replace of Stanton. Holliday deserves to be there.

Well, as I say, that doesn't surprise me (if true) given that Bourn (and Harper) were on the extra-man ballot and Holliday was not. Holliday still should be there, and it would be fun to see him in the ASG anyway given how so many people have been giving him grief this season for not being "clutch".

OTOH, the AL had no position players on the extra-man ballot at all (they were all pitchers) so if one of their position players has to be replaced, presumably Ron Washington can choose whomever he wants.

Eh. Let Holliday relax for four days.

All Star Game brouhahas are hilarious. Nobody claims to take it seriously, but the arguments over it give you the opposite impression.

#STLCards Matt Holliday will replace Yadier Molina in the All-Star Game, as Molina has been placed on the family emergency medical list.

Uh...

EDIT: Nevermind, saw fan's posting on today's GDT... Yadi is on the bereavement list due to the death of his wife's grandmother.

I'm glad that they're at least replacing a Cardinal with a Cardinal, although I'm sure the Reds fans will be pissed that he wasn't replaced with either Cueto or Phillips. And they're probably doubly pissed now that Freese won the Final Vote.

La Russa got to pick Holliday as a replacement because the top three catchers on the player's vote had already been invited to the game.

If they wouldn't have [expletive] about it, i'm sure Cueto or Phillips might have stood a chance. As it stands now, TLR would have brought Aaron Miles over either one of those two.

edit: i forgot miles retired, but you get my point.

I think Tony would've convinced Miles to come out of retirement before selecting either of those 2 Reds players.
