No but he may be related to Wes Mantooth and Wes' mother, Dorothy.

Manses won't be on my top-21 if that tells you anything.

To be a prospect you've got to be able to miss bats...no physical projection, no stuff, just control. I didn't see a plus pitch in his arsenal when I watched him.

Never heard of the guy until today, but is he in PJ Walter's class or not even that good? Those are pretty impressive BB totals... which don't matter if you can't miss bats.

I was probably a bit hard on him above, but he's going to be one of those guys who has to prove it at each level. He relies on angles to create deception, has below average velocity on his fastball, an ok changeup, and has a decent curve and slider. Obviously all pitches play up due to command and deception.

Senior sign who won a lot of games at East Carolina, and he's really sailed through the minors to this point with an insane K/BB ratio each step of the way. One of those confusing guys that doesn't look like a major leaguer, doesn't have the stuff of a major leaguer, but survives through smarts and a bit of deception.

If I filed a report on the guy, that is what it would look like (along with all the standard physical projection, pickoff move, mound presence type stuff).

Shelby Miller hasn't walked a batter in his last 29 2/3 innings at AAA Memphis and has 31 strikeouts in that span

So whats the deal on Starlin Rodriguez? Seems to have a nice combination of power and speed at 2B. Can he stick at 2B? Are the power/speed legit?

Piscotty hit his 3rd homer last night. He's been solid but not spectacular. He is hitting .273/.365/.432.

Some more info on Shelby regaining his form. Sounds like they figured out a mechanics issue.

Shelby Miller - back on track
Quote:
What the Cardinals have implemented with Brent Strom has finally taken hold as the Cardinals hurler has returned to his previous velocity and increased his control. In Goold’s article, Strom was able to immediately get Miller’s velocity up and was looking at video of Miller in the lower levels of the minors. All points seem to indicate that the Cardinals have moved Miller back to his “old” mechanics.
