Thanks for the explanation, danh35! I kinda thought the same thing, but wasn't sure.

I agree with wart and cardsfan.... It was a good idea in 2009 when we hosted the ASG, but it's worn out its welcome, IMO.

The All Star game also had the courthouse cut into the grass but that wasn't used after the All Star game. Honestly after 2009 I don't know why they bothered still doing the arch, it's nice but not that big of a deal to anyone.

Today, Twitter reminded me of this thread.

Watch for tonight's #Cards field reveal as part of @ScottsLawnCare's Design the Field contest!

Ok I'm officially sick of the grass art. The STL is over the top imo.

Honestly I wouldn't care if they even stopped doing the checkerboard design on the greass.

I'm a fan of the arch (sorry), but that and the "STL" are just another thing to distract Holliday.

I like SF, just green grass. No lines, stripes, checkers or anything.

I think the Arch is unique and classy. Anything more like that STL is a bit much though. The capitol was a nice touch for the all-star game, but anything more for regular season play gets a bit gaudy.
