So that leaves Cespedes, Upton and to a lesser extent Fowler and Desmond left.
And I'm confused why the money went up. Seems like the Orioles outbid themselves for no reason whatsoever. Davis had no other team to go to.

Boras...seems to get teams to do that all the time...iirc he got the cards to raise on Holliday when there were no other suitors.
And this deal on Davis is terrible...O's will be hating life in like year 3 of that deal

Well, there goes our last chance to make a substantial upgrade to the offense, straight down the toilet.

Yeah. Wow. They are going to regret that. This reeks of desperation on the part of the O's, who I have been saying for like 8 years are the worst-run franchise in baseball. Ruiners of young talent, esp pitchers. Squanderers of massive revenue and attendance advantages when Camden opened and Ripken was the biggest draw in baseball. Horrible in the trade and free agency markets.heyzeus wrote:I'm a-ok with not going near that contract.

Upton and Cespedes would still be an offensive upgrade but Davis with little buzz on the market seemed like the most likely to be had as a bargain. So much for that.Vidor wrote:Well, there goes our last chance to make a substantial upgrade to the offense, straight down the toilet.

That contract is crazy. It's like they're stuck using 1998 market logic. Bad 1998 market logic at that.

I would have liked him at that AAV for four years. Hell no on seven.
