Why would any small business want to refuse cash? Don't they know how to hide income?

I wouldn't go to a restaurant that wouldn't take cash.

I was just in Mexico recently and almost every restaurant was cash only. It was jarring. I hate having to go to ATMs and count out physical money. I'm ready to be cash free.

One time with my poker winnings I decided to just use cash for a week and it was a mess. Sometimes stores didn't have enough cash in the register for change. Sometimes I was handed the wrong amount. If I gave a cashier a hundred dollar bill I always got a look of confusion and anxiety. My purchases felt like they were in slow motion. I hated it.

Cash is dead.

Maybe in Chicago and some of the other big cities. Local shops love cash. I bet my barber only claims about a third of his actual business.

Seriously that just seems stupid or they have a terrible accountant.

I get it. Registers are a pain in the ass and cash transaction are a matress in the fast lane.

It would also work to gerrymander your clientele
