I just learned that yesterday was the 70th anniversary of Israel being established. The embassy move on the anniversary is nice symbolism for Israel but a giant FU to displaced Palestinians, and the rest of the Muslim world. The embassy move was terrible to begin with, and after hearing about the "dignitaries" at the opening, I didn't think it could be worse. WRONG!

Trump Keeps Claiming That the Jerusalem Embassy Will Bring Peace

Trump’s December 6 announcement of the new U.S. policy on Jerusalem emphasized that he had made this decision for two reasons. One was that recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital acknowledged the reality on the ground: Israel’s major governmental institutions, including the Knesset and the High Court, are located in Jerusalem, as are the residences of the president and prime minister. The other reason, which Trump repeatedly returned to during the course of his remarks, was that recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital would advance the peace process and make a permanent status agreement between the two sides easier. Since then, the president has insisted multiple times that he has “taken Jerusalem off the table,” implying that Jerusalem is no longer a disputed issue between the parties and that the two sides can now move on to resolving the other final status issues, such as security, borders, and refugees.

Yet these repeated claims have an Alice in Wonderland quality to them; it is obvious that nothing could be further from the observable truth. Trump’s Jerusalem announcement took nothing off the table; in fact, it did precisely the opposite. By loudly and forcefully recognizing Israel’s rightful claim and connection to Jerusalem but not recognizing that Palestinians have their own claim and connection to the city as well, Trump elevated the Jerusalem problem to heights heretofore unachieved. The move infuriated the Palestinians, prompting them not only to disengage from the nascent peace process being led by Kushner and the U.S. envoy Jason Greenblatt, but to boycott Trump administration officials entirely and demand that the U.S. no longer be the sole principal mediator between the two sides. Any progress that the U.S. might have made and any goodwill that Kushner and Greenblatt might have engendered on their repeated listening tours to the region was swept away.

I didn't know what gaslighting was before this administration. The simple answer is, it's someone lying to your face, while telling you that they're not lying.

Moving the embassy to Jerusalem was done with the sole intent of setting fire to the idea of a peace process. "America 2.0, The Facistnation" does not want peace. We want war. We want Israel to use all those tanks and fighter jets to destroy the Palestinians. Moving the embassy is the provocation that will result in an uprising that will result in the war America 2.0 wants so badly.

Why do we want it so badly? See my post on the last page. A little bit of bigotry, a little bit of war profiteering, a little bit of end-times apocalyptic BS.

JFC.

This is why everyone should be atheist or agnostic. Religion sucks.

The Bible clearly says that Jesus will come back when the US can establish its embassy in Jerusalem. In fact, the entire book of Revelation is 100% about the United States.

Bad religion sucks. What they're doing here is not actually what their own religion states. It's fundamentalism. And beyond that, it's facism. Both parties are just using each other to support their own absurd goals.

I'd also describe gaslighting as: accusing others of the exact thing(s) you are doing to them. (Or accusing others of things your allies are doing to them)

Can you believe that the US moves its embassy to Jerusalem, not an uncontroversial or insignificant foreign policy and national security decision, and who is there to lend gravitas and seriousness and pomp to the opening? Trump's [expletive] kid and dumb ass son in law, a redneck preacher, and the foreclosure king of southern California.

Pathetic.
