best free anti-virus?
i must getting old if i'm asking about the best free pc anti-virus. my trial membership of "webroot" ran out yesterday and i'm not sure it's even necessary to pay for anti-virus when there are plenty of free options out there.
back in my more tech-savvy days i was using avast, but it's been a hot minute since i've installed an av program.
what do yall use?

I use Malwarebytes. But I pay for their premium product and have for several years. If anyone knows why I shouldn't, feel free to shine a light on my ignorance.

So hard for me to trust Microsoft for anything. I haven't really looked at the current state of their anti-virus.Michael wrote:The windows built-in anti-virus is all I use.

I use both the Windows built-in product--which is perfectly fine--and Malwarebytes Premium, which I highly recommend. Together, I haven't had any problem for years, and I need protection when exploring the internet for ever rarer and more exotic .gifs.

Re: best free anti-virus?
the issue with Windows defender is that it is saying that i dont have anti-virus protection because my webscription to webroot ran out.
all other protections are running, however.
im content with just rolling with windows defender, but its unclear if i have actual anti-virus protection thru defender.
