Goose Island is putting a goal post up in the brewery this weekend. Anyone who can hit a 43 yard field goal gets a case of beer a week for a year.

About 8 years ago I had a bet with a guy in the office that I could kick a 30 yard field goal on the first try with either a soccer ball or football, his choice. He chose a soccer ball (which was stupid) and I drilled it no problem. Then did it with a football too just for good measure. Tried a 50 yarder and that fell just short. So, I'm pretty confident at one point in my life, it would be possible to hit a 43 yarder.

That said, there's a big difference between kicking off a tee with lunch on the line vs having a playoff game on the line and 11 bad ass mofos on the other side trying to kill you.

So, I'd guess Goose Island ends up giving out plenty of free beer during this promo/stunt. But, they probably also correctly decided they'll get way more free publicity than the amount of beer they give away.

43 yards, I'm not going to kid myself. Maybe 35 in my younger days. And Goose Island - that wouldn't inspire any extra leg.
But for sure I'd be toe-kicking and would suggest the untrained but strong-legged beer drinkiers do the same. Just get the special shoe. (ala, Tom Dempsey and my Vikings dude- Rick Danmeier.)



Tangent, our local HS is small and barely has #s for a football team. They don't have a kicker - and they squib the kickoffs, and either miss the point after or go for two.
I don't understand why they just don't get a straight ahead toe-kicker for rudimentary kicking.

I hope Parkey shows up for the promotion and wins himself some free beer.
