An MRI on Salvador Perez's right elbow has revealed damage to the ulnar collateral ligament.

Yikes. Perez -- who suffered the injury during Wednesday's workout -- will get a second opinion from Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles early next week before the next step is determined. Obviously, the possibility exists that Perez will need Tommy John surgery, which would undoubtedly knock him out until 2020. Cam Gallagher and Meibrys Viloria are next on the Royals' catcher depth chart.

Steven Wright has been suspended 80 games for violating MLB's joint drug prevention and treatment program.

Wright tested positive for Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide 2, or GHRP-2 as it's more commonly known. The suspension will start at the beginning of the season, which means that the 34-year-old won't be able to pitch for the Red Sox until mid-2019. This is the second straight year that Wright has served a suspension, as he got a 15-game ban for violating MLB's domestic violence policy in early 2018. He made 20 appearances last year -- four starts -- with a 2.68 ERA and 42/26 K/BB ratio over 52 2/3 innings.

Dodgers designated RHP Josh Fields for assignment.

The move clears a 40-man roster spot for Donnie Hart, who was picked up from the Orioles on Thursday. Fields avoided arbitration with the Dodgers in January on a one-year, $2.85 million contract, but now he's on the waiver wire. The 33-year-old posted a 2.20 ERA and 0.95 WHIP over 41 innings of relief last season and figures to find a new home quickly.

Mike Moustakas will serve as the Brewers' primary second baseman this season.
It was already moving in that direction, but Brewers manager Craig Counsel made it official on Monday. This means that Travis Shaw will function as the primary third baseman, so things will essentially be flip-flopped from where they were after the Moustakas trade last season.
