Pretty soon so many will be in that the ballot will be full of ironic picks like Kozma and Punto.

It feels like Matty Mo should be getting more love than this. I don't think he needs to go in over Rolen, Hernandez or Renteria, but he definitely needs to be up there with Izzy and Tudor!

I just saw this. LOLCardsofSTL wrote:GeddyWrox wrote:It feels like Matty Mo should be getting more love than this. I don't think he needs to go in over Rolen, Hernandez or Renteria, but he definitely needs to be up there with Izzy and Tudor!
I was going by gut when I posted that comment. I just looked up both guys STL careers.
MM had a 22 win season. Tudor a 21 win season.
MM pitched 8 years with us. Tudor, 5.
MM was 101-62. Tudor was 62-26.
MM's ERA was 3.61. Tudor's was 2.52.
MM's FIP was 3.77. Tudor's was 3.36.
MM's SO/W was 2.61. Tudor's was 2.30.
MM's WHIP was 1.268. Tudor's was 1.080.
MM finished 3rd in a CY vote. Tudor finished 2nd.
So all in all, Tudor was somewhat more dominant that Morris, but Morris was here longer and contributed to more winning seasons.
Which do you value more? You could make an argument either way. Which backs up my original point that Matty Mo should have gotten more love in this thread.

Re: Cardinals 2019 Hall of Fame Ballot
I have no problem giving props to Matt Morris. John Tudor is a sentimental pick for me; but the numbers bear out that he had a helluva good record in St. Louis. I wish he had been here longer; but I don't think Morris was ever as dominant within the league as Tudor was; especially in the 1985 season. So if you look at longevity; obviously Morris has an edge. But if you look at dominating opponents; I think I'd pick Tudor every time.GeddyWrox wrote:I just saw this.
