Too early to tell, but he went from A ball to the big leagues, jumping at least one very important stop, I would agree you can't consider it best all time.

Yadier Molina (knee) is expected to catch for Adam Wainwright in Saturday's Grapefruit League game.
Molina is serving as the Cardinals' designated hitter Friday, but he wasn't supposed to catch in a game until March 14. Obviously, that timetable has been moved up. It's certainly a good sign that he'll be fine for Opening Day, although there never seemed to be much doubt of that being the case.

Jedd Gyorko will be sidelined for about a week because of a calf injury.
At this point it doesn't sound like something that will keep him from being ready on Opening Day, but he can't afford any setbacks. Gyorko is slated to serve as a utility player for the Cardinals.

Justin Williams (hand) has been cleared to swing a bat.
Williams broke his right hand back in January when he punched a television. It's unlikely he'll be ready for Opening Day, but he should join Triple-A Memphis' outfield sometime in April.

Marcell Ozuna (shoulder) could play left field as soon as Monday.
Ozuna has been limited to designated hitter duty so far as he comes back from offseason surgery on his right shoulder, but he's made progress with his throwing and is nearing game action. The Cardinals fully expect him to be ready to go on Opening Day.

Cardinals optioned OF Adolis Garcia to Triple-A Memphis; re-assigned RHPs Seth Elledge and Williams Perez, LHP Evan Kruczynski and Cs Dennis Ortega and Julio Rodriguez to minor league camp.
Garcia has gone just 1-for-21 at the plate this spring. He's a physical specimen with intriguing tools but looks to be buried on the Cardinals' outfielder depth chart.

Cardinals optioned INF Edmundo Sosa to Triple-A Memphis.
Sosa has had a nice spring but never had a real chance to making the Opening Day roster. He'll be Memphis' regular shortstop.
Mar 10, 2019, 8:35 AM
Cardinals optioned LHP Genesis Cabrera to Triple-A Memphis.
Cabrera has had a rough spring from a performance standpoint, ruining any long shot chance he might have to make the team. He might be destined for the bullpen over the long haul, although he figures to start the year in Memphis' rotation.

Cardinals optioned RHP Giovanny Gallegos to Triple-A Memphis.
Gallegos has served up three homers over 3 2/3 innings this spring but has also struck out nine. He's posted great numbers at Triple-A the last few years but seems down in the pecking order as far as St. Louis relief options go.
Mar 10, 2019, 8:32 AM
Cardinals optioned RHP Ryan Helsley to Triple-A Memphis.
Helsley allowed three runs with a 4/4 K/BB ratio over 4 2/3 innings this spring but showed off his big velocity with a fastball that reached the upper-90s with regularity. While he figures to begin the season in Memphis' rotation, the Cards seem to be viewing him more as a relief option down the road.

The Cardinals plan to continue limiting Alex Reyes (lat) to one-inning appearances during Grapefruit League play.
It's possible he'll be stretched out more later on in camp, but either way it seems safe to officially rule him out as a possibility to crack the Opening Day rotation. Reyes has struggled with his control in his two spring appearances, walking four over two innings, although he's flashed his electric stuff. The best bet is probably that he begins the season in the rotation at Triple-A Memphis, but he could wind up starting or relieving with the Cards.

Marcell Ozuna (shoulder) made throws from left field to third base and home plate at full strength on Saturday for the first time this spring.
They were throws he was not able to make last season before right shoulder surgery in October. Cardinals manager Mike Shildt watched the drills and said afterward that it was a "super-encouraging day for Ozuna." Ozuna could make his first Grapefruit League start in left field on Monday.

Honest question, but really for entertainment value:
Who would you rather have, all things considered (contract, experience, skill, health, PR, merchandising, organizational reputation, etc)
Dexter Fowler
Or
Tim Tebow

Fowler because he's an actual major league baseball player.Phansett wrote:Honest question, but really for entertainment value:

I'd like to see Tebow get promoted just to see how he can handle major league pitching.
His minor league numbers are pathetic.

I feel like every major league team would rather have a fart in the wind as opposed to Fowler’s contract. Probably tebow’s too. But Tebow is cheaper.
