The one that one of the Fangraphs projections think will get 5.7 WAR this year.

FWIW, it would probably be better to say he's been a 5+ WAR player on average over the past two seasons. The FANS projection on Fangraphs is a crowdsourced projection, that is typically wildly optimistic. 39 total position players are projected for 5+ WAR (including our own Marp, DeJong, and Goldschmidt). To ground that number in reality, 21 total position players had 5+ fWAR in 2018.Big Amoco Sign wrote:Tommy Pham.NDark wrote:Who is this 5+ WAR player that is being referenced....?

Team made a decision on what they thought would win more games going forward. I don’t know enough about the situation to know if they’re right or not, but anecdotally the team won at a better clip post-Pham.Big Amoco Sign wrote:Thought the point was to win baseball games.

Excuse me, but I believe the poster with a Tommy Pham avatar made it pretty clear that we are moving on from talking about Tommy Pham. By that definition, Bryce Harper is not a 5+ WAR player.NDark wrote:Oh, I thought we were talking about a guy who had actually done it more than once in his career. My bad.
To definitively say someone is "X" I would expect them to have shown to have done it regularly.
i would agree with thatobucard wrote:By that definition, Bryce Harper is not a 5+ WAR player.NDark wrote:Oh, I thought we were talking about a guy who had actually done it more than once in his career. My bad.
