The official title for the new 'Star Wars' is 'The Rise of Skywalker'; first trailer unveiled
Director J.J. Abrams and producer Kathleen Kennedy officially revealed the title of the ninth and final chapter in the Skywalker Saga to the world at Star Wars Celebration in Chicago. The star-packed panel was hosted by noted Star Wars super-fan, Stephen Colbert, and featured the film’s core cast as well as returning legend, Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian. Rather than announce The Rise of Skywalker themselves, the cast and filmmakers let the world premiere of the teaser trailer do the talking.
JJ Abrams confirms Star Wars Episode 9 doesn't directly follow Last Jedi
JJ Abrams: "The movie doesn't pick up immediately after the last film, some time has gone by. This is an adventure that the group goes on together"
The Rise of Skywalker also premiered its first trailer at Celebration, which hinted at the return of Emperor Palpatine (complete with an on-stage appearance from actor Ian McDiarmid).
I saw a bit of the 2010 Tron a couple weeks ago with the CGI Jeff Bridges and he looked terrible. They've come a long way with this stuff. I wonder if they'll start doing sequels of old movies now that actors might once have aged out of. You could have made a Star Wars sequel that took place right after Return of the Jedi, for example. Or another 1940s era Indiana Jones movie with Harrison Ford.
