He keeps showing up in the box score doesn't he? You never know how a player might develop or come out of nowhere.
He definitely has some of the Descalso vibe going on. He walks some. Doesn't strike out much. Hits for some power and seems to make decent contact. Don't know about his glove, but he does have the makings of a come-out-of-nowhere MLB player. Maybe not a good one, but something.

Memphis

Nashville Comes from Behind to Top Memphis
The Memphis Redbirds (23-24) scored the first three runs of the contest and led 4-1 after the top of the sixth, before the Nashville Sounds (Rangers) started a comeback and scored seven unanswered runs to spur an 8-5 win over the Redbirds Thursday night in Nashville, Tenn.

Drew Robinson was 3-for-5 with a double, a home run, and two RBI, and Tommy Edman homered for the second-straight game. Rangel Ravelo had a ground-rule double to extend his hitting streak to 18 games.

Ravelo's streak ties Matt Carpenter for the third-longest in Redbirds history. He is two shy of matching Adam Kennedy's 20-game hitting stretch for tops in franchise history.

Andrew Knizner opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first, before Robinson homered in the third and then had an RBI single in the fifth to give Memphis a 3-0 lead. Nashville's (18-28) Matt Davidson launched his 15th long ball of the year in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 3-1, and Adolis Garcia had a run-scoring double that plated Ravelo in the top of the sixth to bring the Redbirds' lead to 4-1.

In what would be his final batter faced, Evan Kruczynski surrendered a bases-clearing double to Davidson to knot the game at 4.

In his second Triple-A start, Kruczynski allowed those four runs on six hits in 5.2 innings. He struck out three and walked one.

Dominic Leone finished the sixth and worked a scoreless bottom of the seventh, and the Redbirds stranded a Tyler O'Neill in the top of the eighth.

Jesus Cruz entered in the bottom of the eighth and loaded the bases, before Zack Granite hit a grand slam to give Nashville an 8-4 lead.

Cruz hit the next batter, prompting the benches to empty, and he, manager Ben Johnson, and John Nogowski were ejected in a scuffle that followed.

Nashville has hit 20 Memphis hitters in 11 games between the two clubs this season, compared to three by Redbirds pitchers.

Edman homered with one out in the top of the ninth, but the next two Redbirds were retired to end the ballgame.

The first seven hitters in the Memphis lineup had at least one of the team's 10 hits in the ballgame. Six of those went for extra bases.

Memphis

Ravelo Moves One Shy of Matching Franchise Hitting Streak Mark
Rangel Ravelo homered to extend his hitting streak to 19 games, one shy of tying the franchise record, but the Nashville Sounds (Rangers) took the series finale with the Memphis Redbirds (23-25) Friday night in Nashville, Tenn., 10-6.

Palm Beach

Cardinals fall to Tortugas in homestand opener
It was not the homecoming Palm Beach was looking for on Tuesday night as the Cardinals fell to the visiting Daytona Tortugas 5-2.

Alex Reyes got the start for Palm Beach for the second time in 2019 and was flashing his pitch speed variation all night. He got two strikeouts in the first inning on 98 MPH fastballs and showed off his curveball in the high 70's to get other batters to chase later in his start. In all, Reyes allowed just one earned run (three total) in his 4 ⅓ innings on the mound. The 24-year-old allowed seven hits and just one walk while striking out five.

After returning home following a seven game road trip, the Cardinals wasted no time getting on the board in the first inning putting up a two spot on the board. Justin Toerner got the frame started with a single followed by a Zach Kirtley walk. 2019 Florida State League All-Star catcher Julio Rodriguez hit a one-out single to load the bases and the Yariel Gonzalez, who was the next hitter to the plate, brought a run home with an RBI single. Luken Baker continued the rally with a sacrifice fly bringing home the second runner of the inning, and what would turn out to be, the final Palm Beach run of the night.

Off of Reyes, Daytona tied the game at two in the the third on a one-out RBI triple off the bat of Drew Mount. Reyes proceeded to get Jonathan India out on strikes but allowed a two-out RBI single to Alejo Lopez.

After Reyes departed the game with runners on first and second and one out, CJ Saylor came in relief and immediately induced a fly out to short center field not allowing the runners to advance. With two outs in the frame, Stuart Fairchild hit a go-ahead RBI single to left making it a 3-2 game.

With two outs in the top of the ninth, Daytona scored two insurance runs courtesy of Jonathan India's two-run homer to make it a 5-2 game which would be the eventual final

Kane County added to their lead in the top of the fifth. Redbirds Lose Finale to San Antonio, 3-2
The Memphis Redbirds (23-31) tried to climb back from a 3-0 hole but came up just short in a 3-2 loss to the first-place San Antonio Missions (Brewers) in the series finale Wednesday night at AutoZone Park.

San Antonio (34-20) scored three runs off Jake Woodford in the top of the third inning, but Woodford locked down and was dominant after that. After an RBI double for the Missions' third run, the right-hander retired 13 of the final 15 hitters he faced, with a walk erased by a double play, and struck out the side in the seventh in his last inning of work.

He threw 67 of his 107 pitches for strikes and finished with seven strikeouts in 7.0 innings.

Max Schrock went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Memphis' other run in the game scored on a passed ball.

Tommy Edman stole his sixth base of the season for Memphis, and the Redbirds turned a season-high four double plays in the game.

Memphis had the potential tying run on base in the eighth after an Adolis Garcia single, but a pop-out ended the inning. The Redbirds went down in order in the bottom of the ninth to finish the ballgame.

Chris Beck and Tommy Layne threw 2.0 shutout innings in relief of Woodford.

Memphis has lost eight-straight games. San Antonio won the season series with the Redbirds 13-3, including winning the final 11 matchups.

Palm Beach

Sanmartin Stifles Redbirds
LHP Reíver Sanmartín made sure his Florida State League Pitcher of the Week award didn't change his results. The 23-year-old tossed six scoreless innings, as the Daytona Tortugas blanked the Palm Beach Cardinals, 5-0, on Wednesday night at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.

With zeroes across through two, Daytona (29-23) gave Sanmartín a lead to protect in the third. LF Drew Mount (2-5, R, RBI, SO) reached on an error with one out and advanced to second on a single by 3B Jonathan India (2-5, SO). After Mount swiped third, 2B Alejo Lopez (0-4, RBI, BB, 2 SO) hit a slow grounder to second. The infielder's only play was to first, as Mount scored from third to put Daytona in front, 1-0.

In the sixth, the Tortugas added to their lead with the long ball. On the third pitch of the frame, CF Stuart Fairchild (1-4, R, HR, RBI, BB) clocked a deep drive to left. The ball sailed over the left-field fence for a solo home run - his third of the year - to put the visitors up by a pair, 2-0.

Daytona added more insurance in the seventh and eighth. LF Lorenzo Cedrola (2-3, R, 3B, RBI) was plunked to lead off the seventh and scooted to second on a wild pitch. After a ground out moved him to third, Mount drove him in with a single to center. In the eighth, 1B Bruce Yari (1-4, R, SO) and DH Hendrik Clementina (1-4, R, SO) reached on back-to-back one-out singles and moved to second and third on a ground out. With two away, Cedrola hit a slow roller to short. The throw to first was late and wild. The 21-year-old was credited with an RBI infield single - with the second runner crossing on the error - to put the Tortugas ahead, 5-0.

Sanmartín (6.0 IP, 5 H, 3 SO) was stellar again on Wednesday night. The southpaw hurled six spotless innings - extending his scoreless streak to 15.0 frames dating back to May 18 - to collect his second win of the season.

It was a tough defeat for Palm Beach's (31-20) RHP Tommy Parsons (5.0 IP, 3 H, R, 2 BB, 4 SO). The Columbus, Ohio native yielded just one unearned run over five innings but suffered his first FSL defeat.

Palm Beach

Cardinals salvage series with victory on Thursday
The Cardinals were able to salvage the three-game homestand against Daytona with a 2-1 victory to close out the series after dropping the first two matchups.

2019 Florida State League All-Star Alex Fagalde got the start for Palm Beach and flourished. The right-hander gave up just one run on a solo homer in six innings on the mound, giving up four hits and striking out five in the process. This was Fagalde's sixth straight start allowing two or less earned runs.

The Cardinals were first on the board in the third on a Scott Hurst RBI single to right field.

After Daytona's Hendrik Clementina hit a game tying solo homer, it took until the seventh inning for Palm Beach to regain the lead.

With two outs and Jose Martinez on first, Yariel Gonzalez and Scott Hurst hit back-to-back singles giving Palm Beach a 2-1 lead.

The Palm Beach bullpen made sure Daytona would not touch that lead as Mitchell Osnowitz, Patrick Dayton, and Bryan Dobzanski combined for three scoreless innings.

Dobzanski, a 2019 Florida State League All-Star, earned his sixth save of the season and dropped his season ERA to a miniscule 0.52 while recording two strikeouts in the 9th inning.

Osnowitz, who earned a victory out of the bullpen, moved to 1-1 on the season and has not allowed a run over his last 7 ⅓ innings spanning five appearances.
