Oklahoma City Defeats Memphis, 6-2
SpringfieldA 3-1 game remained from the first inning until the bottom of the eighth Friday night at AutoZone Park, and after the Memphis Redbirds got within a run the Oklahoma City Dodgers (Dodgers) scored three in the top of the ninth to help secure a 6-2 win.
Edmundo Sosa homered for the Redbirds (23-33) leading off the bottom of the eighth to make the score 3-2, but the Dodgers (20-34) responded with two singles and a ground rule double for their second three-spot of the game. Memphis put two runners on in the bottom of the ninth but a strikeout ended the contest.
Tommy Edman was 2-for-4 with a triple for Memphis. He scored the Redbirds' first run of the game on a Rangel Ravelo single.
Ryan Helsley started and went 2.2 innings, striking out six. He was followed by four relievers for Memphis.
Kyle Garlick homered and had four RBI for Oklahoma City, one night after driving in five runs.
Redbirds pitching struck out 15 Dodgers in the game, and the Dodgers struck out 14 Redbirds.
Memphis has lost 10-straight games.
3-run homer in 9th sinks Cardinals against Naturals
Palm BeachThe Springfield Cardinals (22-32) lost to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (22-31) in the first of a three-game series in front of a sellout crowd of 6,819 at Hammons Field on Friday night.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED:
- In a 4-4 tie with two outs in the ninth, Naturals 2B Gabriel Cancel crushed a first-pitch three-run home run off Patterson that put Northwest Arkansas ahead 7-4.
- After the Naturals battled back from a 3-1 hole through two innings to take a 4-3 lead in the top of the seventh, the Cardinals immediately responded in the bottom half when RF Dylan Carlson scampered home off an errant throw by Naturals SS Taylor Featherston with two outs, trying the game 4-4.
NOTABLES:
- Carlson (2-for-4), SS Kramer Robertson (2-for-5) and 1B Chris Chinea (2-for-4) led the Cardinals at the plate.
- Cardinals LF Conner Capel connected on his eighth home run of the second inning, putting Springfield ahead 3-1.
- In his first appearance since April 24, Cardinals RHP Will Latcham tossed 2.0 scoreless relief innings, walking one, striking out two and holding the Naturals hitless.
Kingham, Estrada lead Florida to 7-0 win over Palm Beach
PeoriaNolan Kingham tossed a two-hit shutout and Rusber Estrada had two hits and scored two runs, as the Florida Fire Frogs topped the Palm Beach Cardinals 7-0 on Friday.
Kingham (3-3) struck out four and walked one to get the win.
Up 2-0 in the third, Florida added to its lead when William Contreras hit a two-run home run.
The Fire Frogs later added single runs in the fifth, sixth and eighth innings to finish off the shutout.
Edgar Gonzalez (4-7) went six innings, allowing six runs and 11 hits in the Florida State League game. He also struck out seven and walked one.
The Cardinals were held scoreless for the seventh time this season, while the Fire Frogs' staff recorded their fifth shutout of the year.
Leahy Pitches Career-High Seven Innings in Chiefs Win
With the help of seven scoreless innings from Kyle Leahy, the Peoria Chiefs defeated the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 3-0 Friday night. The Chiefs improve to 23-30 on the season with game two of the series set for Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
The Chiefs got on the board early in the top of the first against Wisconsin starter Logan Gillaspie. With one out, Delvin Perez singled and advanced to third on a single by Nolan Gorman. With runners on first and third, Ivan Herrera singled to right and Perez and Gorman scored on a fielding error by Wisconsin right fielder Jesus Lujano for the 2-0 lead.
The Chiefs added an insurance run in the top of the eighth. With two outs Brady Whalen singled and scored on Leandro Cedeno's second triple of the season to increase the lead to 3-0.
Leahy (3-4) earned his third win of the season, pitching a career-high seven shutout innings allowing three hits and striking out four. Thomas St. Clair pitched one inning allowing two hits with two walks and one strikeout. Evan Sisk pitched the final inning striking out one en route to his second save of the season.
