Hulu is going to have more of Disney's "adult" programming.Swirls wrote:Isn't Disney getting Hulu as part of their acquisition of 21st Century Fox? Or something along those lines?
Yes, but it will continue to be a separate product from the upcoming Disney+ service. However, there is at least some rumor(although it may just be mis-placed hope) that there might be a discounted bundle for those who do some combination of Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+.Swirls wrote:Isn't Disney getting Hulu as part of their acquisition of 21st Century Fox? It's kind of odd in that Netflix and Amazon aren't really alternatives to cable, they're an additional channel available only via streaming. So if anything it's an add on to cable.Fat_Bulldog wrote:Will this eventually come full circle and it will be a better bargain to have a cable/satellite package again? (If programming keeps getting segmented, etc. based on the provider, Hulu, Netflix, and so on...)
I think that's true now, but my thought was that eventually Netflix would have almost everything, and there would be competing services that had almost the same thing and it just came down to who had a better service and presentation. That's how it looked at first. Netflix just kept acquiring more stuff. Didn't foresee all the exclusives and in-house services. Probably naive, in retrospect.AWvsCBsteeeerike3 wrote:It's kind of odd in that Netflix and Amazon aren't really alternatives to cable, they're an additional channel available only via streaming. YoutubeTV, Hulu, etc. are all still probably a little cheaper with less of a commitment to cable, but they further require internet capable of streaming which is not free.
Most of the content through Charter(Spectrum) is on demand. Albeit with commercials, etc.ghostrunner wrote:I think that's true now, but my thought was that eventually Netflix would have almost everything, and there would be competing services that had almost the same thing and it just came down to who had a better service and presentation. Cable could make a comeback, but the on demand would need to work well and have a lot of content. That's at least half of the appeal of Netflix, et al. You don't have to remember to record or save it, or work your schedule around what you're watching.
