And moreso if you include his 64% GB rate for this season alone. Gotta go with five infielders. Bring Thomas in the middle. Base hit is going to win it anyways. Russell Martin hits 50% ground balls too! Does anyone do scouting on this team?? Choice was easy.
He definitely took a stab at it and there's no way to shift your body in front of an 87mph bugs bunny slider that's 3 feet off the plate. Here's your pic. The ball is circled in red behind his glove. And yes, he didn't extend his arm. I'll post a pic of the "WP" when I can. You shift your body.

Score one again on Friday, boys, and see if it's enough. Don't change a thing.

I can promise you Mo’s decisions had no effect on any of the players’ psyches.Magneto2.0 wrote:I don't really buy into things like this but I wonder if no moves deflated the team?CT Defector wrote:1-6 since the trade deadline, we’ll probably be in 3rd place by the end of the night.

I've seen Yadi slide many times. And with Carlos too.

Not many catchers are as good as Yadi has been throughout his career; even if he is declining now.Big Amoco Sign wrote:I've seen Yadi slide many times. And with Carlos too.

If anyone could get a glove on that pitch it's Yadi, but unless you can teleport you can't get in front of something that's moving like that and missing by that much. It's a ludicrous suggestion.CardsofSTL wrote:Not many catchers are as good as Yadi has been throughout his career; even if he is declining now.Big Amoco Sign wrote:I've seen Yadi slide many times. Russell Martin = hits 50% ground balls. (8% more than league average)haltz wrote:I think the cost of a LD or FB with two OF outweighs taking the 20% chance of a GB going for a hit down to 8% or whatever with five infielders. ~50% means that half the time it won't be a ground ball. Carlos (2019) = 64% ground balls period
Carlos (career) = 53% ground balls with 2 strikes
With runners on second and third and two outs, you have to play the GB and protect runner on second from scoring. A flyball out to the wall likely wasn't going to happen.
The outcome showed the ball bounce in the infield through a hole that wouldn't exist with 5 infielders. Gee who could have predicted that?

Yadi can get it but not a gold glove catcher in Wieters?

It's catcher 101 actually.
Wieters was also very nonchalant about getting back to it too. Compounds his overall awareness on the play.

Is that the one where they throw balls into a trash can with Fred McGriff?
