The Cardinals primary catcher last year put up 0.1 WAR. The backup? -0.3 WAR. Contreras put up 3.3 WAR.

That's a sizeable upgrade that you're not going to get at probably any other position, and it won't cost $120M.

Yeah, generally a team like the Cardinals will see the most benefit from lifting up an albatross position.

One of the reasons the Cardinals have been consistent is they rarely have anchor positions.

He's the most significant upgrade we can make offensively at a position that will only cost money. He's a legit good hitter, and he's available at a position where we haven't had a good hitter in nearly a decade.

It's good to have as many players on the team with sweet asses as possible. Let's be honest, as great as Molina 's career was with the Cardinals he was kind of a chunky butt.

The Cardinals can’t go into this season with four starters in the final year of their contracts. Something has to give there.
They can. They don't NEED to sign a guy for 2 plus years just because 4 guys will be free agents. Plenty of time to sort 2024 out.

ACTIVE I tell you.

Kinda odd how little buzz there's been about Correa (yet). I haven't seen him linked to anyone.
