Did we really need a closer? Helsley is...adequate?
That was a silly need listing.

To be fair, they probably assumed the Cards needed a closer because they saw Mo sign a few average-mediocre guys and figured the original goal was a top of the line closer.

Former Mets general manager Billy Eppler has been suspended for the 2024 season by Major League Baseball for improper use of the injured list.
According to Major League Baseball’s investigation, Eppler — who resigned as New York’s general manager last October — was found to have engaged in a pattern of improper use of injured list placements, including the deliberate fabrication of injuries. The big takeaway here for fantasy purposes is that the league appears to be cracking down on so-called phantom injured list roster moves moving forward.

The Mets as an organization should swing for this, not just Eppler. The entire Cardinals organization paid for the Luhnow fiasco...

I am sure that Eppler and the Mets deserve whatever they get but weren't the Dodgers one of the most aggressive teams to do this; especially when the 10 day IL came around? And I am sure other teams did it as well...but I guess MLB is tired of it.

itll be interesting to see if they actually do enforce it as the dodgers game the system more than anyone. always feels like they have an 80 man roster.

This is mostly about the Mariners but it's also about the broader trend in MLB to "try to win 54% of your games". Sometimes you'll win 60% and sometimes you'll win 50%. This is the exact mindset the Cardinals have had for years
