That seems like a silly dealbreaker since the overwhelming majority of any player's body of work is the regular season. Sure, give consideration to how guys did on the biggest stage -- no one will forget AP's dominance, or David Ortiz literally ripping the Cardinals apart in the WS twice. But by this measure Clayton Kershaw wouldn't be a HOFer either. Craig Biggio had a .618 career postseason OPS - he's out. So is Bagwell (.685)! Tons of players didn't thrive in the small sample size of the playoffs. Todd Helton of all people had a .584 playoff OPS. That's Kozma-esque.dmarx114 wrote: ↑January 24 25, 12:38 pmIf you’re a terrible post season relief pitcher, you shouldn’t be a hall of famer.InvincibleCakeEater wrote: ↑January 22 25, 9:36 pmWhy should one of the best relievers not be in the HOF?

I don't think it should disqualify him from the HoF, but you do have to admit that Wagner's postseason performance was consistently putrid. Out of 14 appearances:
- Allowed 0 runs in only 7 of them (2 of those were for only 1 out each)
- Allowed 2 or more runs in 5 of them
- 11.2 IP, 21 hits allowed, 13(!) ER
That's pretty awful.

I need my HOF closers to be exceptional in the post season. Can't have Billy choke job Wagner hanging out with Ruth, Mays, and Musial.heyzeus wrote: ↑January 24 25, 1:14 pmThat seems like a silly dealbreaker since the overwhelming majority of any player's body of work is the regular season. Given the proliferation of really effective 60 inning relievers, there are gonna be more Billy Wagners going forward. I guess they’ll have to put Kenley Jansen in the HOF as well.
