11 years ago today, Albert Pujols had what Tony La Russa called "the greatest night in World Series history" when he slugged three homers in Game 3:

27 years ago today, the Cardinals named Tony La Russa the 48th manager in franchise history. See why he was allowed to leave his contract with the Athletics to come to St. Louis:

On this date in 1995, just two days after naming Tony La Russa the Cardinals’ new manager and one day after they began removing the AstroTurf from Busch Stadium to install natural grass, Anheuser-Busch shocked St. Louis with the announcement that it was selling the team.

16 years ago today, Jeff Weaver out-pitched Justin Verlander as the Cardinals won the 10th World Series championship in franchise history:

I'll go a step further - that was the greatest game in baseball history.

October 27th has to be the most loaded day for Cardinals baseball in my lifetime.

2004: Lost World Series
2006: Won World Series
2011: Game 6

They also played Game 4 of the 2013 World Series on October 27, but that one really isn't on the same scale as the others.

I have stuff from every Cards WS appearance this century including ‘04 - except ‘13. Not sure why - it makes buying a Xmas or bday gift pretty easy.

Same here, but I know why I don't have anything from '13. The '04 WS left such a sour taste that I refused to buy anything unless they won.
