I mean I'd trade Carlson for Lopez but that seems so weird.

Yeah I believe that's why reports of the Cardinals involvement was deemed to be "exaggerated" by the media from those in the knowJoe Shlabotnik wrote: ↑January 17 23, 12:02 pmWhich is why Soto is not a Cardinal.Big Amoco Sign wrote: ↑January 17 23, 11:59 amI thought that Walker was off the table...Magneto2.0 wrote: ↑January 17 23, 11:43 amIt was Carlson plus plus plus (Walker and others) that they balked at, not Carlson being the centerpiece.CardsofSTL wrote: ↑January 17 23, 12:14 amSo we blinked at Carlson for Soto but are pushing him for Lopez?

It seems like the media put two and two together: Cardinals need another bat/they have a lot of prospects/young players and are a great match for the Padres.
Seems like the Padres wanted: Walker, Carlson, and others
And the Cardinals weren't willing to give up their top prospects AND Carlson. Not Carlson being the centerpiece and other pieces added.

I like Lopez, but I don't want to trade any of our starting outfielders outfielders to get that deal done.
Would do Herrera, Burleson, and Hudson. Not sure if that moves the needle for Miami.
Walker, Winn, Graceffo, Hence, and McGreevy are off the table for me.

Nice!! Well deserved.
And Bernard Gilkey is a coach for Palm Beach. That's neat.
