Holliday is a good example.

They certainly lit the fuse when they went for Heyward, Price, and Stanton. Yes, someone stomped it out before it ignited the barrel. But they certainly tried to use it.

They used it last year with Holland.
The Cardinals knew Stanton was never going to come here so it didn't matter how much they offered.
proof or gut?

Clay Buchholz to the Blue Jays.

I was hoping the Cards would pick him up as insurance on Carlos/Wacha/Reyes. Oh well.

An MRI on Salvador Perez's right elbow has revealed damage to the ulnar collateral ligament.

Yikes. Perez -- who suffered the injury during Wednesday's workout -- will get a second opinion from Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles early next week before the next step is determined. Obviously, the possibility exists that Perez will need Tommy John surgery, which would undoubtedly knock him out until 2020. Cam Gallagher and Meibrys Viloria are next on the Royals' catcher depth chart, although they're reportedly touched base with free agent Martin Maldonado's camp.
