They certainly have options to throw $700,000 at and force them to turn it down.
McKenzie is a wonderful athlete who has a chance to stick defensively. Will $700k get him away from Vanderbilt? Doubt it.
Chris Newell had a number well over a million I believe, so I doubt $700k gets him done, either. He's going to Virginia.
McFarlane has a dream commitment to Miami and has said he wanted like $1.5m to sign.
With any of them though, throw the offer at them and make them turn it down.
My guess remains that they get the Auburn sophomore lefty signed (Jack Owens), Tyler Statler (projectible arm committed to SEMO), Thomas Hart (another quick armed high school kid who can spin it committed to a Juco), Zade Richardson (Juco freshman C produced with a .385 average and more walks than K's).
Those guys are who I expect to sign and none of the other high school players. The Cardinals are kind of a team that signs most everybody they take round 20 and under and then don't really sign many of the HS kids after that. Some teams sign most everybody up to round 33 and then don't sign the HS players.
