The New AAA ball

Post by mikechamp »

I ran across this article on BA, and thought that those who frequent this forum would enjoy it:
New Ball Has Made 2019 A Season Unlike Any Other

We’ve written a lot about the new Triple-A baseball this year and how it’s changing the game. But every time we write about it, we hear many of the same questions. With that in mind, here’s a simple explanation of what is proving to be the wildest season of Triple-A baseball in our lifetimes.

https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories ... any-other/
I also wanted to add this Q&A from Kyle Glaser at BA, as it relates to the article above:
With the AAA balls creating such a change in offensive production, do scouts and evaluators need to put more time, effort, and weight into AA performance?

Kyle Glaser: They already are. There's a train of thought out there that any and all Triple-A performances this year should be given zero consideration - especially if they were at the level last year and weren't very good and all the sudden they popped this year.

Interesting. Sounds like a certain prospect of ours.

Not sure why they have different type of balls at different levels. The balls they use in Rookie ball should be the same balls they use in MLB. Only difference is the logo on the side of the ball.

Who? Arozarena popped at AA for months before moving to AAA

Arozarena has been like that at AA and AAA...struggles initially and then takes off once he gets his feet under him. Check out his early 2018 at Springfield.
