Robot Umpires on their way to MLB

MLB’s new labor deal with its umpires includes implementation of a computer calling balls and strikes, according to the Associated Press.
The five-year labor deal also includes raises for the human umps. The MLB Umpires Association agreed to cooperate with “development and testing” of an automated strike zone within the next five years, according to the report.

The article i read said "with significant increases in pay/retirement benefits" for the umpires. That's all it takes.

I’m assuming that would be part of the “umpire discretion “ area .

Getting it right, yadda yadda.

I’m not a fan. Umpires calling balls and strikes—and yes, getting them wrong many times—is part of the game for me.
