cards preparing to move gorman prolly
Walker could play some LF/DH until Goldschmidt is done and then put him at 1B.

Walker definitely has some positional flexibility. He is also going to move pretty slow all things considered. Losing a full year, no pro experience this season. He will be way behind Gorman.

Really good development al pick. Anyone have comps? I have to write about this guy tomorrow.
Troy Glaus

edit - I should say power wise. He's more athletic than Glaus.

Per rob rains, perfect game says that walker is the second best high school bat behind Veen.

Wonder if there are signability issues

Kris Bryant is also tall af for a 3B, that could work.

Bryant is much more of an inside out swing. Defensively, I can see it. Watching Walker take gb's you would have no clue he's as tall as he is.

Power, size, athleticism is there. Couldn't tell you much about his swing.

Apparently Walker has a cannon so RF could be an option as well.

Never heard about the guy, but the few clips they showed he does have an exceptionally long swing, as that write up said. Gonna be a ton of Ks, but the power is massive it seems.

The swing kind of looks like Glaus. That's where I'm going for a historic comp.

I really hate bringing Bryant into the conversation. It's so unfair to a HS draftee to immediately compare him to one of the better draft prospects and players of the decade. Glaus was about the same though. Glaus had an 8.2 WAR season early in his career. We forget how great he was. And a very highly touted prospect, too.

I looked through every offensive MLB player that was 6'5" or taller and it's a pretty short list. Bryant is the only 3b'man. Dexter Fowler is the only CF'er. Matt Wieters the only C. The rest are corner OF'ers and 1b'man. The one common element is power.

“ • I’d heard Jordan Walker was going in the Nos. 25-35 range, but the Cardinals jumped up and got him at No. 21. He might be the best all-or-nothing prospect in this class: If he hits, he’ll be a superstar with plus power/run tools, tremendous makeup and a great baseball body. But he might not hit and at the least needs a fair amount of work to get to an average hit tool. It’s a daring pick, but at No. 21 you don’t get shots at superstars unless you roll the dice.” -KLaw

Moving Gorman for a guy who's not going to be ready for a few more years just makes no sense.

Last night during the draft Harold Reynolds gave him a Jermaine Dye comp.
