So the new rover is looking for fossilized pond scum on Mars. Maybe they will find Lenny Dykstra there.

good luck with that
DENVER -- Kyle Freeland sees the prevailing theory out there: All-Star third baseman Nolan Arenado traded away, the Colorado Rockies instantly written off.

That sort of narrative just provides more incentive for the left-hander and his teammates.

"We haven't even played a spring training game ... and people are already counting us out," Freeland said Thursday as Colorado's pitchers and catchers cranked up spring training workouts in Scottsdale, Arizona. "It's a great opportunity for us to shock the world."

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic notes that Trevor Rosenthal's contract with the Athletics will be backloaded with deferrals.

Not a huge surprise at all. Rosenthal is getting $11 million for his work in 2021, but he'll get $3 million this year, $3 million in 2022 and $5 million in 2023. This is very similar to the contract that Oakland reportedly offered Marcus Semien. Rosenthal will almost assuredly open the year as the closer for Oakland in 2021.
