ravelo, brebbia non tenderized

Post by Jocephus »

Cardinals non-tendered 1B Rangel Ravelo.

Ravelo has managed just a .601 OPS during his brief time in the majors. He had a deal in place overseas last offseason before the Cards decided to keep him, so perhaps he'll revisit that option.

Cardinals non-tendered RHP John Brebbia.

Brebbia underwent Tommy John surgery in June, so he probably won't be available to pitch until the second half. It's possible the Cards could bring him back at a lesser rate than what he'd earn in arbitration.

Ravelo probably should go play in Japan if its still a possibility in this crazy current world. Get some regular playing time on a level higher up then AAA. Japan baseball is probably somewhere inbetween AAA and the majors.

I'll truly miss the Brebs Bus of Oddities. One of the oddest ducks in the league.

Brebbia isn't going to pitch anywhere next season anyway; so he will have to find somewhere to rehab. Who knows; he might be a Cardinal again in two years.

Cardinals really did Ravelo dirty. He probably could’ve bagged seven figures in Japan last year. Instead got the prorated minimum and kicked to the curb a year later.

They gave him a guaranteed roster spot on a MLB team for the first time in his career with a chance to compete for time at DH. That's doing him dirty? I'm pretty sure that's the club finally having a shot at to fulfill his dream. There's not a player in the minors who would rather play in Japan than have a guaranteed spot on an MLB roster.

He ended up getting COVID and it was a lost season, but the club's intention was for him to play. He can still go overseas if he wants.

Yeah they did him dirty. He probably lost a chance to make more money in Japan. Maybe he heads there now this year, but he’s not going to get as much.
