During his years studying theater, Hanks met Vincent Dowling, head of the Great Lakes Theater Festival in Cleveland, Ohio.[13] At Dowling's suggestion, Hanks became an intern at the festival. His internship stretched into a three-year experience that covered most aspects of theater production, including lighting, set design, and stage management, prompting Hanks to drop out of college. During the same time, Hanks won the Cleveland Critics Circle Award for Best Actor for his 1978 performance as Proteus in Shakespeare's The Two Gentlemen of Verona, one of the few times he played a villain.

ah good call. i didn't look that far into his wiki! i thought he was a CA kid, and looked that up to confirm but i didn't realize there *was* a connection later in his life. i figured just 'cause everyone likes him, a decent narrator voice and i think he does like baseball.InvincibleCakeEater wrote: ↑July 23 21, 8:37 amDuring his years studying theater, Hanks met Vincent Dowling, head of the Great Lakes Theater Festival in Cleveland, Ohio.[13] At Dowling's suggestion, Hanks became an intern at the festival. At first glance i wasn't a fan - feels kind of bland. Especially since they had an easy win with Cleveland Spiders. But after hearing about the reference it has to the city and seeing how they're doing the logos - i don't hate it. They could have done a lot worse (Cleveland Baseball Team anyone?)
