I'm sure fans of the Cleveland Baseball Club are excited that their owners just saved $44 million, though.

Are they rebuilding? They have all their good players still. Darvish was/is going to decline at some point. Maybe not this year but soon and it's good to shed the contract. They still have their entire infield in their prime.go birds wrote: ↑January 7 21, 1:01 pmcubs are rebuilding so the cards don't have to do anything for awhilePopeye_Card wrote: ↑January 7 21, 12:15 pmDoesn't sound like it took all that much. Their three best players coming off bad to mediocre seasons (Baez, Rizzo and Bryant). It was a short season, so it could've just been an extended slump. They owe Jon Lester $10mil, so that's nice.InvincibleCakeEater wrote: ↑January 7 21, 5:41 pmWell, their rotation is Kyle Hendricks, Zach Davies, lol, omg and wtf.Big Amoco Sign wrote: ↑January 7 21, 5:02 pmAre they rebuilding? And they have another kid thats pretty much a Hendrinks clone with a tad more velo on his sinker. Pretty solid mid-Sept numbers, and even had a CG on 9/13 vs MIL. He is called Alec Mills.heyzeus wrote: ↑January 7 21, 8:37 pmThey owe Jon Lester $10mil, so that's nice.InvincibleCakeEater wrote: ↑January 7 21, 5:41 pmWell, their rotation is Kyle Hendricks, Zach Davies, lol, omg and wtf.Big Amoco Sign wrote: ↑January 7 21, 5:02 pmAre they rebuilding? Cubs are looking to move wilson contreras and would not be the least bit surprised to see one of baez, bryant or rizzo get moved.
i gotta admit, i was on the "cubs are going to run the central for a long long time" bandwagon based solely on their ability to spend, but epstein gonna epstein i guess.
Kudos to those trying to talk some of us off the ledge.
Screw the cards front office though. They will only see this as an opportunity to remain mediocre.
