JUPITER, Fla. — The Cardinals are hopeful that soon after they land Monday evening in Cincinnati their traveling party will receive a COVID-19 vaccination several days in advance of opening day against the Reds, executive John Mozeliak said during a morning Zoom call with the media.

I am all for them getting vaccinated; but maybe let Jack wait until after he pitches Thursday.

As soon as he comes out of the game and he walks into the dugout they'll have a vaccine waiting for him in the dugout.CardsofSTL wrote: ↑March 29 21, 10:09 amI am all for them getting vaccinated; but maybe let Jack wait until after he pitches Thursday.

As an added bonus, Clippy will deliver Bill Gates' in-game strategy directly into our players' cerebellums.

Re: Cardinals getting vaccinated
Major League Baseball and the Players Association informed teams Monday that clubs that get 85 percent of their Tier 1 (players and staffers with direct contact with players) vaccinated against COVID-19, health and safety protocols for the entire tier will be loosened.
Additionally, individuals in Tier 1 who get vaccinated will see their personal protocol restrictions loosened.
MLB and its clubs have not required players to get vaccinated to participate in the season.
The memo sent to clubs Monday said: “Vaccination for COVID-19 is a critical component of promoting and protecting the health and safety of all players, staff, and their families. All players and staff are strongly encouraged to receive one of the approved COVID-19 vaccines when eligible.”
The relaxed protocols for vaccinated Tier 1 individuals will include being allowed to work out in ballpark facilities without a facemask, be tested less frequently, gather indoors and on team airplanes and buses with other vaccinated individuals, and carpool together or use ride-sharing services. They will also be exempt from quarantining if they are in contact with a person who tests positive for the virus, as long as the vaccinated person does not show symptoms.
Teams that reach the 85 percent vaccination threshold will no longer have to wear masks in the dugout or the bullpen, or wear a tracking device. Players will be allowed to play video games and other group activities together in the clubhouse again, and they will be allowed to use saunas and steam rooms.
Additionally, vaccinated people will be allowed to dine indoors once 85 percent of the team is vaccinated, and everyone will be allowed to eat and drink on flights again. Family members will be allowed to stay with Tier 1 individuals on the road, and vaccinated people who are not family will be allowed to stay at the team hotel.

Re: Cardinals getting vaccinated
Only takes 5 players from a 30 man roster (do they still have expanded rosters this season? I haven't paid enough attention) to not reach 85%. Not too hard to find 10 hardcore GOP'ers on any given team, half of whom refuse to get vaccinated.
