Damn. He was a good one.

Flashback to Bohemian Gramma story - Ken was her favorite player. Apparently, His last name meant “butt” in her native tongue and she thought he had a really nice one.

Reitz was an interesting player because he was a good defensive player, but one of the slowest men in baseball during his career.

Brett Reitz released the following statement through the team:

"On behalf of my dad and my family I’d like to thank the Cardinals organization for allowing my father to live out his dream. Also, Cardinals fans for the endless support over the years. The only thing my dad loved as much as his family was baseball. He ate, slept, and breathed baseball and truly loved the city of St. Louis and the Cardinals. The loss of “Grandpa Kenny”, as his six grandkids called him, is heartbreaking. He will be truly missed.”

Reitz was one of my favorites growing up. "Simmons, Sizemore, and Reitz" - for some reason that sounded cool so they were my three favorites during that early 70s suckage era.

Kenny Reitz was my first autograph.

My uncle knew him personally. He's also since passed. This one stings a lot.

RIP
