I wouldn't go that far, but there's definitely some Maillard reaction going on

I don't mean to keep bashing Matt Carpenter (in general I do, but not right here), but isn't he an extreme pull hitter? It's 2:1 up there in the barreled spray chart. Doesn't that make some of that data less relevant?

His K rate so far this season is 36% with a 9.1% BB rate. I know it’s a small sample size, but that’s nearly 10% higher than his career average K rate and about 5% lower on his career BB rate. Even though his K rate has climbed every year since 2018, his BB has stayed relatively consistent up until this year, so he isn’t just hitting into bad luck. His plate discipline has been atrocious to start the year as well.

It is probably only in my head, but I always thought he stunk except for some reason when he batted leadoff, he was much better. But we always moved him down when he seemed to have power. I would try it for a week, and if that doesn't work, then I don't know.

Remember when Marp was batting under .200 then went on an epic run, almost single-handedly destroying Wrigley Field in the process, and entered the MVP conversation?
Nostalgia is great but that’s not going to happen again. Ever.

Yep. And it really doesn't matter what his XSLG, BARREL%, or that new Statcast one that punishes guys who foul off pitches "Power Quotient" is... because when you watch him hit, it's the same dumb pop fly to RF every time. He can hit it hard as he can but that's where it's going. Mid RF.

ICE and I tend to be spirit animals, so I'm surprised to read his belief that things are ok.
Much of their advanced data is based on the blowouts. Could those even out, to where they score more consistently? It could, but it's unlikely.
The team sucks by my standards, but they are admittedly high. I believe the Cardinals have won one series all season. Pretty incredible, but there is reason to believe that they could stick around .500 and then some good variance luck could push them to contention.
