Some good performances in the minors yesterday.
Liberatore went 5 giving up 1. Nootbaar went 3-5 with a HR. Delvin Perez went 3-4 with a couple steals. Plummer went 4-4. Gorman 2-5 with a SB. Winn was 3-5 with a couple doubles.

Plummer and Perez are having surprisingly good seasons.

Nice little article with Nick Plummer, who’s having a heck of a year.

The first team who pays their minor leaguers, like, $40,000 a year are going to have such a massive competitive advantage.

Time to advance some of that double A talent. The AAA team is horrible at the plate.

.687 Memphis Team OPS. [expletive] awful.

Ranked 28/30 in all of AAA (west and east)

One of the few bright spots in this dark season is the advancement of a few of the young prospects. Plummer looks like a possible bench bat after looking like a lost cause. Delvin Perez could be a guy who is a slow burn. Accepted to be immature coming out, players of that ilk tend to take longer to develop (if they ever do). He's needed to grow both physically and emotionally and in some ways appears to be doing so. He also looks like a bench bat long term, but his glove should play at this level. Edmundo Sosa type of prospect is better than we had last year in Perez.

Lars Nootbar looks like another up-and-down type player who could be a left-handed option off the bench and not embarrass himself. A toolsy 8th round pick who looks to have developed to the best case scenario.

Jordan Walker, by all accounts, looks like a hit as a draft pick. The Cardinals do seem to be a team that will take this archetype of high school hitter and try and make it work. The type who is very highly regarded as a junior, who has a down summer or spring, but lots of tools and falls further than was expected the year prior.

As a 16 y/o Jordan Walker would've been a top-10 pick. As a 16 y/o Nolan Gorman would've been a top-10 pick. After his Junior year summer, Nick Plummer is probably a top-10 pick. Rob Kaminsky probably goes higher if the draft were held after his Junior summer year. Zack Thompson, a guy who would've gone much higher the year prior. Luken Baker once looked like a very high draft pick and fell due to injuries.

The point is the Cardinals like to catch falling prospects. Sometimes they turn to be hits and sometimes they turn out to be knives, but the strategy overall has paid dividends.

Another bright spot has been Masyn Winn. Whom the Cardinals stated would develop as a two-way player, but has really just been a SS this year. He's another archetype the Cardinals love to select; players young for their draft class. From Masyn Winn, to Tink Hence, to Tre Fletcher, to several college pitchers who are young for their class, the Cardinals clearly value age in their draft models.

Annoyed Torres's power hasn't hit the mark I expected by now...

Need Tre Fletcher to get going. Last I read he was training at some alternate site. Considering the Cards overdrafted to get him, I figured they'd advance him pretty fast once he got some playing time in.
