Jacob deGrom was pulled from Friday's start against the Padres after just 80 pitches due to right flexor tendonitis.
Ugh. Fantasy managers and baseball fans in general had hoped that deGrom's early exit after six brilliant innings was simply due to the Mets being extra cautious with him, but now we know the unfortunate truth. Prior to leaving, deGrom had been unbelievable yet again -- racking up 10 strikeouts while allowing just one hit over six dazzling innings. Oh, and he also went 1-for-2 at the dish and drove in a pair of runs. He owns a mind-boggling 0.56 ERA, 0.53 WHIP and 103/8 K/BB ratio through 64 innings on the season. We can only hope that this issue isn't going to sideline him for a significant amount of time. Expect the Mets to know more after he's re-evaluated.
