Re: 2021 MLB Draft
Admittedly far removed from the days of sitting with scouts and picking their brains of different kids across the country (pandemic would've impacted that anyway), but I just did not see Alec Willis as a million dollar arm.
Maybe the data on his pitches are elite?
This is a high school righty, already with an ulnar nerve compression surgery, and sitting 91-93 at the end of the spring. He touched 95 at times, but really sat 91-93 for the majority of his starts. He's 6-6, 225 already, but there is some projection that he can fill his frame out to be a 200-inning horse.
My problems are he doesn't have a true plus pitch at this time, he shows some feel for a curveball, but more often than not it's a loopy pitch that he would just throw for a strike to get ahead more than getting swings-and-misses. The changeup is another meh pitch. When you add to it he misses high to the glove side quite a bit with his fastball, there isn't anything that's plus today other than frame.
For a million dollars...whew. There are a ton of players I'd rather have for that dollar figure. The last time I was this surprised at a bonus given out by the Cardinals it was Mateo Gil. I didn't see him anywhere near a $900K player and he has sort of lived up to that.

Xavier Casserilla tweets out he will go to Wichita State and not sign pro.
I’m hearing Cabell is torn but leaning towards not signing.
