I will say this....as disappointed as we've been this season with the results (and our injuries), the Cubs have been just as disappointing or more with the talent that they have in their everyday lineup. It's like they've just lost interest after that 11-game losing streak. Besides pending FA, I think a few of their core just want a change of scenery anyway.

As far advanced metrics analysis, I will have to defer to the stats geniuses on this board as to their demise this season. Their starting pitching hasn't been very good, but their bullpen has been good to very good.

I am supportive of letting Gant finish things and not burn any more arms.

So back in the mid 90s, dad and I drove up for a weekend series against the Astros. The Cards won the Saturday game something like 10-4. But Cris Carpenter (the first one) finished the game by pitching the last three innings for the "old school save". You rarely see that anymore.
