Why would you intentionally plan games in San Juan during hurricane season?

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, MLB and the MLBPA have agreed to expanded 28-man rosters through May 1.

The two sides have also agreed to bring back the "ghost runner" in extra innings, though only for the 2022 season. Additionally, over the life of the new CBA is what Sherman has labeled the "Shohei Ohtani" rule, which will allow a pitcher to hit for himself and then remain in the game even after his pitching appearance has concluded. The hope is that it will encourage the arrival of more two-way players.

Ghost runner sucks so bad.

And no pitchers had to fully leave game if taken out. Also rule used to be that once you opt out of DH, you have to use old NL rules rest of the game. Bochy did it during an inter league game with Bumgarner so he could bat for himself.

It'll be better than the Angels being forced to put Ohtani out in RF.

The rule has been that if the DH takes the field, you lose the DH. So if the pitcher is also acting as the DH, once they take to the mound to pitch, they are the pitcher in the lineup and not the DH. If they are removed from the game as the pitcher, they are also removed from the hitting lineup.

They have apparently altered it such that if the pitcher is the DH, they can continue as the DH even after they have been relieved on the mound. If they take the field otherwise (1B or whatever), the new pitcher will have to start hitting.

oh, ok....that makes sense. Thanks

They didn't say that, so I was confused lol

that's what they said, and I'm like, they could always do that! after Ohtani pitches he could then go to the OF. that was always allowed. would've helped if they mentioned the DH part!
