Cardinals INF prospect Jordan Walker picked up three hits with a triple for Double-A Springfield.
Walker, 20, also scored a run. The 2020 first-round pick has five hits in his last eight at-bats with the Double-A Cardinals, and has his slash up to .314/.420/.500 with four homers and 11 stolen bases over his 156 at-bats in the Texas League. Walker has superstar potential in his bat, and the only 'disappointment' with these numbers is the lack of roundtrippers. He's a player that many scouts believe has plus-plus power potential, however, so fantasy managers shouldn't be concerned. Walker is one of the very few must-roster prospects in any type of keeper format.

So - can Walker play in the OF? Or do we trade him for elite pitching? He's not breaking in at 3B any time soon.

See where Arenado is spring of 2024. Walker's arm is so good that it's going to be wasted if it's not used at 3B or SS. ZiPS projects 2.7 fWAR for Arenado in 2024. Walker can easily match that by then.Joe Shlabotnik wrote: ↑June 2 22, 10:06 amSo - can Walker play in the OF? Or do we trade him for elite pitching? He's not breaking in at 3B any time soon.
Guys fall off a cliff FAST.
Trading a potential generational player like Walker is out of the question to me. You trade Nolan Arenado before Walker. Walker's exit velocity is comparable to elite MLBers and he's in double A and 19 years old. Insane to me.

Re: 2022 Minor League Season
Cardinals C prospect Iván Herrera homered while going 4-for-6 on Wednesday for Triple-A Memphis.
It's the third homer in 23 games for Herrera. The 22-year-old backstop has enjoyed a nice start to his season for the Redbirds with a .932 OPS along with a .329 average, and he got a chance to make his MLB debut this May. While he doesn't have a standout offensive tool, both his hit and power tools project at average, and because he's going to be a backstop, that allows those tools to play up. He's not a future star, but it's easy to see Herrera developing into a quality catching option in all eligible fantasy formats.

Liberatore is going to need a lot more command to be that type of prospect. He’s very hittable without excellent command or a new pitch.

Re: 2022 Minor League Season
Cardinals INF prospect Jordan Walker homered twice while going 3-for-4 on Thursday for Double-A Springfield.
This is escalating. Walker has his third multi-hit game in his last four appearances, and it’s seen his average rise from .297 on the season to .321. In the last update it was mentioned that it was only a matter of time until homers started coming for the 20-year-old. There ya go. Walker’s potential competes with any infield prospect in baseball regardless of position, and it might be time to give him a challenge at the Triple-A level if this keeps up -- or even a modicum of this level. Walker has a chance to be a star.

Re: 2022 Minor League Season
Maybe Ben Clemens
How good are Masyn Winn and Moises Gomez, really? They're putting up videogame numbers, and Winn is out slugging Walker (!).
Ben Clemens
Masyn Winn is gonna be a top 50 prospect next year, and in my head he'll be a top 10
I'm skeptical of Gomez, just b/c the rest of the track record is so different
