What are your thoughts on Mo’s roster construction where we need to rely on a 40 year old vet to go 7 every time out?
The offense was always more than enough to compete with Brewers. What about the pen and two starting pitching question marks?

I didn't love the Matz signing, specifically because I was nervous about his injury history. But we are 17th in MLB in starter innings, which feels about right given Flaherty's injury.Big Amoco Sign wrote: ↑June 1 22, 8:08 amWhat are your thoughts on Mo’s roster construction where we need to rely on a 40 year old vet to go 7 every time out?

I think the bullpen will improve once Packy, DVH (who I still believe in), and Whitley get more innings. Unlike you, I think Cabby is still a weapon. McFarland was the big miss and Wittgren was a flyer who didn't work out. I think there's an opportunity to improve the pen as the season goes along.

There's a problem with Cabby if he struggles against lefties. (32 BF sample size). But can we see a trend to a good direction soon? Still waiting.dmarx114 wrote: ↑June 1 22, 8:25 amI didn't love the Matz signing, specifically because I was nervous about his injury history. I think Wittgren is doing what he was signed to do. Eat up innings to keep good players rested. He was always billed as "high appearance count" guy. That's how he was used in Cleveland and how he's used here.
Don't know what to make of Whitley really.
Please explain your hope in DVH getting better. If you don't mind.

Good K/BB in Japan. Low HR rate.

"In Japan"
We now have seen his first sampling in MLB since. If you're still using Japan numbers for optimism then that's fine. I guess I was hoping to hear something from the games he's been in, especially since injury.
Speaking of old posts, how are your Marlins doing?

The Padres are already cutting bait with Robinson Cano.
