They was talking to Brian Cashman on WFAN about were the Yankees in on Soto, and he pretty much said without saying it, he realized early in the talks that Rizzo pretty much only liked the Padres and Cardinals prospects and were the only two teams with a real chance of obtaining him. Everything else was just noise (Dodgers, Yankees, Mets, etc...)

O'Neill and Noot would both be just fine in Center.

Not like we are sticking Yepez there.
Noot and O'Neill have only played a few games there....ever. in the minors or majors...how do you know they can play there?

and TON is
Cause good left fielders can play CF without it being a noticeable downgrade.

That can be a problem when a lot of your value comes from walks. 3 HR's, 6 RBI, and a .235 batting average in your first month doesn't look so hot to the average fan who was under the impression that the Padres traded for a superstar. Walking just ain't sexy.

Well maybe Soto will keep that in mind when he becomes a free agent.

(And the Cardinals make zero effort to sign him.)
