They look tired to me. A day off today will hopefully help.

And then they can settle in at home after the Milwaukee series.

I don't see any way we can start Waino in the playoffs right now. Esp in the short series. You can't afford to punt a single game. Right now It's Mikolas/Quintana then either Flaherty or Montgomery, depending how they look by then.

I agree with this. I almost like Quintana as a series opener.

the august run shows us them playing at just about "perfect", all aspects of the team firing on all cylinders and they looked great. we've also seen some pretty poor play, these last few weeks in particular.

they're probably somewhere in between of course but which group shows up for the playoffs, who knows. i can see them putting up a fight and winning a series or two but them rolling over and losing in the first round seems equally possible.

Goldschmidt has been ice cold since talk of him potentially winning a triple crown, Schwarber is at 41 homers now so thats out the window.

Interesting how no one wants to bring up a no-hitter for fear of jinxing it yet we have no such reservations about other rare accomplishments.

It feels like the offense fell apart after TON went down for the umpteenth time in 2022. We weathered his other boo-boo's just fine. But when he pulled up lame this last time, anybody not named Albert Pujols vanished from being productive at the plate.

I feel like personalities could be at play too. Just having certain guys suck, and still be in the clubhouse, wearing their suck on their sleeves could also bring down the room. Im looking at you PDJ..

I don’t want to jinx it, but it feels like he might have lost his hold on the NL MVP?
I wonder how many other MVP front runners played like Goldschmidt has the last month of the season and still won.

So, uh, Arenado is now the NL leader in WAR (7.1) with Goldy and Machado (7.0) tied for second. I couldn't argue against Arenado winning that trophy, he's been phenomenal all year.
